Announcing our Latest Impact Audit
December 11, 2015 - The Possible Team
We recently participated in a new initiative with ImpactMatters, an organization that conducts impact audits to provide feedback on how nonprofits should use and produce appropriate evidence of impact, and to confirm to funders that an organization is evidence-based.
Modeled after financial audits, ImpactMatters measures four main components that make up an impactful and effective organization: transparency, cost-effectiveness, cooperation with other charities, and, as explained in The Wall Street Journal, “‘theory of change,’ which refers to whether an organization’s means accomplish its mission.”
After a rigorous audit, we passed with outstanding success. In addition to interviews with senior team members, ImpactMatters looked at over 150 organizational, program, and monitor and evaluation documents, including our program design review process, implementation research evaluation protocols, program SOP’s, budgets, and much, much more.
Similar to the GiveWell campaign that we participated in, along with our recommendation in The Life You Can Save, this certification will be looked at by funders who want to ensure their money achieves true impact. Most importantly, our team will use the feedback ImpactMatters provides to produce appropriate evidence, so we can constantly improve our programs and deliver high-quality, dignified care to our patients.
As part of the audit, ImpactMatters concluded:
“Possible delivered high-quality healthcare services to 296,485 patients since 2008, improving health outcomes, for example through safe birth, and improving health equity. Possible reaches new patients at a marginal cost of $36.01 per patient.”
